The issue

Behind every number is a person: a child who feels left behind at school, a parent unable to read a note from a teacher, an adult missing out on job opportunities.

How United for Literacy helps

United for Literacy delivers FREE programs across Canada, from homework clubs for kids to literacy and skills training for adults and newcomers. We meet learners wherever they are.

Our impact

In 2024, your support made learning possible for tens of thousands
of Canadians.

  • 39,531 people in 180 communities across Canada took part in our programs
  • 3,150 children participated in literacy camps in 90 Indigenous communities last summer.
  • 3,337 parents, teachers, and community members attended 54 workshops and conferences
  • 54,905 free, new books were distributed to children and families.

Aashvi joined the United for Literacy Online Reading Circle and had so much fun. She loved the games, and with help from her reading buddy she got better at reading and writing.

This Giving Tuesday, Turn Minutes into Milestones

Every $30 unlocks an Hour of free Learning: a tutoring session, a confidence boost, a new opportunity.

Right now, your generosity can go even further. United for Literacy has a $40,000 holiday match available. While these funds last, donations can be tripled when combined with employer matching gifts. That means more hours of learning, more tutors, and more literacy support for learners nationwide.

Give today and turn one gift into three.

Every $30 can unlock up to 3 Hours of free Learning.
